Everything we do at the Blackfoot Resource Hub is grounded in the wisdom of Blackfoot Elders and knowledge holders. Their ancestral teachings emphasize the interconnectedness of spiritual, mental, physical and emotional well-being, shaping our integrated, empathetic approach to support.
Drawing upon Elders wisdom ensures we genuinely serve Blackfoot interests while helping people reconnect with the cultural roots they need to heal. Elders understand how to apply ancestral teachings to contemporary struggles—addiction, housing, mental health—in ways that consider the whole person, not just the problem.
The wisdom of Elders in our work guides us to create safe spaces for lasting transformation. Elders bridge generations, reconnecting younger Blackfoot people with their heritage while directing our team to follow culturally appropriate practices. Without this foundation, we risk becoming just another social service agency instead of a place where people can truly reclaim their identity.
We’re committed to accessible Blackfoot cultural programming that fosters connection and creates opportunities for healing, hope, and community among Indigenous peoples in Lethbridge.
Our hands-on workshops and events strengthen connections to Blackfoot culture. Participants rebuild their cultural identities through language, ceremony, land connection, and traditional skills, with support from Blackfoot Elders and the community throughout their journey.
Through organizational outreach, we bring Blackfoot cultural expertise directly to partner agencies. Our practical guidance empowers these organizations to incorporate authentic Blackfoot approaches when working with Indigenous clients facing addiction, housing, and social challenges.
