Okii Niisto Niitaniko Sskaa’piinaakii
When I moved to Lethbridge, I did not know anyone. I had no support system, and I didn’t know where to go for resources. I saw an advertisement on Facebook for Blackfoot classes and decided to join an evening class. I was surprised and humbled to find community, friends and family with the Blackfoot Hub. The weekly activities offer a chance to reconnect with culture, traditions AND teachings with renowned Blackfoot Elders. The family-friendly atmosphere provides a place for urban First Nation families to learn new life skills and network with local Blackfoot entrepreneurs. I have also been able to reconnect with my aatsimmoiyihkanni spirituality, which is an integral aspect of niitsitapiiysinni. The resource workers are very helpful and offer guidance navigating the urban jungle. I am very grateful for the Blackfoot Hub and everything they do for everyone.
