RECLAIMING BLACKFOOT WAYS OF KNOWING

To bring the whole person into balance

The Blackfoot Resource Hub exists to help Indigenous individuals and families in our community reclaim their identity and bring their well-being back into balance. We facilitate this by connecting people with traditional Blackfoot ways of knowing, guided by Elders and knowledge holders who have preserved the sacred voices and practices of our ancestors.

Drawing on this wisdom, we provide easy access to integrated cultural support services and programs that facilitate healing through community, purpose, and connection to Blackfoot traditions. These services and programs encompass access to traditional medicines, land-based learning, cultural ceremonies, and workshops that affirm individuals’ worth and foster hope for the future.

What sets us apart is that we are 100% Indigenous-led. Our work is a lived commitment to Kimmapiiyiptssini—a practice of non-judgmental, empathetic and holistic support that sees and accompanies the whole person on their journey to regain balance and heal through Blackfoot teachings.

We are a part of the Blood Tribe Kainaiwa and are supported by the City of Lethbridge.

What we stand for

THE BUFFALO
The buffalo embodies our foundational needs for food, shelter, clothing, and spiritual nourishment, reflecting what we strive to offer our community. It also represents the strength and resilience, qualities that define the spirit of Blackfoot people.

THE MEDICINE WHEEL
The medicine wheel symbolizes our holistic approach to supporting our community. In addition to meeting essential needs, we offer care that nurtures mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

THE MORNING STAR
Morning Star (Iipisowaahs) is a sacred being who brings hope and healing to our people. Morning Star teaches us that each dawn offers renewal and transformation and inspires us to provide hope and opportunity for new beginnings to everyone who enters our doors.

THE FOUR CIRCLES
The four circles represent the four seasons, embodying our commitment to meet individuals wherever they are in their life’s journey. Through all seasons of struggle—whether someone is recovering from addiction, seeking housing or at risk of losing support—we provide consistent care and guidance.

INDIGENOUS-LED COMMUNITY SUPPORT

Our Elders and Knowledge Holders

All of our supports and programming are guided by the wisdom of Blackfoot Elders and knowledge holders. Drawing from ancestral teachings and traditions, their guidance empowers us to be a truly Indigenous-led organization offering culturally grounded healing and support for Indigenous individuals and families in our community.

Thank you to our Funder:

The City of Lethbridge recognized a need to better support the Indigenous population and partnered with the Blood Tribe Administration to create the Blackfoot Resource Hub.
